If i spray cleaner into the hole on the lip, should it come out the tiny round hole or the hole with the brass diffuser in it, or both??

I'm not a huge fan of that response.

Re: Carb clean; accel pump
Minor progress. With the diaphragm and cover off, i can see the two holes; one that allow gas from the bowl to the diaphragm (thru hole), and one with a brass diffuser pressed in. I i tried spraying brake cleaner through the second and nothing worked. i gently pressed the brass block out from the ba...

Carb clean; accel pump
I am carb cleaning. Specifically the accelerator pump. LINK to a great resource: http://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/SeanG/Honda_Carb_Manual_revG.pdf Two questions: 1. should there be a boot or seal around the shaft? there wasn't. The shaft was so badly corroded it was frozen. Mr. Rubber Mallet and I p...

Re: Forks
For what it's worth, I found a few pages from a manual about the 79-80 forks; good info! The down side was that there was just one paragraph about 1981 and up: take it to a dealer. Anybody experienced on this one?

Forks
The front end is so very very soft. There's an air inlet that I've never filled, but i wonder if it isn't something more serious, unrelated. What are the basic, exploratory steps to figuring out forks? Should there be fluid in them? They feel smooth, just super soft. I don't even know where to start.

Re: Spare Change Project First Bike
Visual inspection can be a good defense when it comes to tires but what you don't see is how they've hardened and will not grip the road when turning or braking, or how brittle they have become and will shatter on the first big bump you get to. Tires are the ONLY thing between you and the road. Inve...

Re: Speedo compatibility
Yes, customizing! I don't have a machine shop, just some basic hand and power tools. The goal is to do as much as i can for as cheap as humanly possible. I want something that looks pretty cool without screaming "omg another hack is trying to make one of those stupid cafe racers." Any and ...

Re: Speedo compatibility
Exploring options and considerations on a full custom cluster. Looking for something smaller and sleeker, considering making a custom face, and don't want to have to fight that silly pressed on lip every time i want to take it apart again and make an adjustment.

Speedo compatibility
I haven't seen a lot of bikes apart. I know the speedo cables and speedometers on the Honda CB650 are widely compatible with just about every old Honda. Are they different than other brands, or can i grab any speedo off the shelf and go??
