Distorted Carb Inlet and Metal Choke Replacement
Carb No.3 inlet has been flattened on the bottom, is this going to cause problems? Can it be straightened or would it just crack if I tried? I bought these as a replacement set for my 650 Custom as they haven't got the dreaded air cut off valves, they were off a CB650Z (UK Model). I knew befor...

Re: Engine advise please
Hi Riche, its been a while since I took the barrels (jugs) off of my Nighthawk but I haven't touched the pistons or rings yet so can't speak from experience but this link may help. http://www.duncanracing.com/TechCenter/4strk_ringinstall2-24-05.pdf If that doesn't help I'll go in the shed tomorrow w...

Re: Key tumbler
I have never used a helmet lock after a mate of mine had his rather expensive helmet stolen by some git cutting his strap. I think sprygurr showed amazing ingenuity doing what he did, I'd have gone on ebay looking for a replacement set of locks

Re: Key tumbler
It's pretty obvious to me whats wrong there, one of the brass pieces is bent out of the shape. Either you bend it back or try to make a new one, that should solve any problem with the lock i think. 8) sprygurr did done fixed it by robbing the tumblers from his helmet lock, the clever bugger!...

Thanks sprygurr :) you may have noticed that I was in the process of swapping the spoked wheels for Comstars, that's why they are different. Also the clocks were being tidied up so weren't on, the carbs were also off as they were being cleaned for the 157th time  Most of that has now been sorte...

Re: Key tumbler
I have never had a problem with any keys or locks on any motorcycle so I have never really had a need to examine an ignition other than check the connections. I didn't even know that you could take them apart, so well done to you for sorting it out 8) It is something that I now know to check if the ...

Wouldn't it be great if you rebuilt a bike and had enough bits left over to build another one?

I usually make 20 mistakes for every one thing I get right, but in my defence, I put things together wrong just in case they fit better

 Wow! you're the first person in the entire history of the World to make a mistake  I happen to know that just about every vehicle ever made only has genuine spare parts made for roughly two years after a particular model ceases production, they may make an absolutely huge quantity but pro...

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.
Have you tried your local Honda dealer (or this link)? They seem to be still available new. https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/12191-426-000?ref=b814044739b9a3b46a49555cbecd9b3f9c91cbd0 Folsoml, that link is for the base gasket  This is for the head gasket but they are unavailable https...

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.
what would be the best aftermarket one lol i don't really like the idea of getting a 30+ year old gasket Be sure to let us know when you find out  You've already tried one aftermarket gasket and that doesn't fit properly  . You don't want to use a 30+ year old gasket on a 30+ year old bi...

Re: Right gasket set but different head gasket.
Hi hoops and welcome. As far as I was able to work out the differences between the gaskets is down to the carburetor types used on the engines. A cylinder head from a 79/80 engine with slide carbs won't fit on an 81/82 engine with CV carbs. I'm presuming (by my own theory  ) that the gasket fo...
