Re: '82 cb650sc project
Looking forward to putting this back together. Most of the paintwork is done, and the battery box looks like it will work fine.

Re: '82 cb650sc project
My first attempt at making formed aluminum panels, it covers up the top triple and provides a spot for the idiot lights.

Re: Can't find any harnesses
Are you sure the harness you have can't be saved? Vintageconnections.com sells the right parts to make repairs to it. I usually clean the terminals by soaking in white vinegar overnight. A dozen old hondas and the most I've had to do was replace a few connectiors and terminals after cleaning the ori...

Re: Pod filters
There were pods on this bike when I first worked on it, it wouldn't run right. We put a stock airbox on and it ran great. Now the bike is mine and is my first "cafe" project. After reading a lot of anti-pod literature I have decided to " fake" the empty triangle look. The airbox ...

Re: '82 cb650sc project
Hi tiagoba21, nice to know someone else is tackling one of these beasts. The earlier handlebars were cut from a pair of vintage apehangers. They had a 90 degree bend near the grips so they cleared the exposed fork tubes while creating adjustable low bars. Near 5" of verticle adjustment. The cli...

Re: '82 cb650sc project
My seat pan has a steel skeleton glassed into it to utilize the original front mount tab , two half-round feet to grip the top rails, and studs welded in to accept wingnuts through the frame cross member. there is even a lip glassed into the hump to let it sit directly on the rear hoop. strong enoug...

Re: '82 cb650sc project
I dragged the bike outside to get some pictures in the sunlight. Plus, I needed a place to upload some pictures so I could download them to my tablet! I know, there is a better way, but I don't know it. I've decided to keep the air system in the forks for now, any suggestions for an air hose upgrade...

Re: Air jet covers + gaskets in VB44A/C carbs. What in the world do these do?
I recently rebuilt a set of CV carbs on a goldwing, those kidney shaped covers are rubber, and do seal the air jets. I get my carb parts from Randakks because the parts kits are complete and the highest quality.

Re: '82 cb650sc project
I got a little more done, getting close to be being able to ride it in mock-up to see how much I like it! Battery box and starter solenoid mount is done, I think. Electrics tray under the hump might be done, changed it twice already! Voltage regulator has been moved to the underside of the tray to g...

Re: 1980 CB650 - Want to make it a Cafe Racer (need parts help)
Welcome to the club! I'm well into my conversion of an '82 cb650sc and want to help where possible. What city are you in? My first suggestion after looking at your inspiration photo concerns the shape and location of your rear "hoop". You want to make sure that the wheel/fender setup canno...
