260W?! :) I am shocked, yet pleased.

How much would be used to charge the battery (I know I read this on here before)? Add that to the various running lights and I should have a total W use by the bike. I am sure I would be well under 260W.

Alternator

How many extra Watts, if any, are available from the alternators on these bikes (79 US model specifically). As part of the "bringing the bike up to daily useable standards effort 2006" I am considering a number of improvements including heated handgrips. I have them on my Kawasaki (on the ...

Btw, your neighbor, do you know if he's a member of any discussion forum for the Kawasaki twins? I gave him the web link and told him about the site 2 or 3 times. I don't think he has joined yet. This is odd because he has done a bit of work on the bike and plans to pull the engine this winter.

To meet another cb650 owner

My neighbor (has an '81 KZ 440) has a friend with a '79 cb650. He is going to arrange a meeting. It feels like a date. I'll have to remember to take my camera, which I rarely do :(

It may start a little slower below about 45 deg. F. Have a good battery and tread on your tires, and you should be fine. Some prefer a windsheild during cooler weather and rain. They attach and remove in minutes.

Not sure what it was designated as, but it was not halogen. The bulb looked like a large version of a two-filament turn signal bulb.

Hue, Instead of replacing the headlight bulb, consider getting a sealed-beam halogen bulb. You can pick them up at most auto parts stores. The whole part pops right in and provides much better illumination than the stock incandescent bulb. I went with a sealed beam 55/65W, and it is so much better t...
