most likely both jets and emulsion tubes need cleaned in all the carbs.

thats a 79/80 idle jet. the 81 is down in the hole and "non removable". with luck maybe some one put on 82 carbs and it is removable. just need too look

nice looking. But I'm biased as one of mine is just like that. If you have the auto fuel shut off still on the carbs ditch it.
Sounds like your starter clutch is going out too. Couple threads on it here.

under the clutch there is a spring that holds a couple linkages. It might have broke.

as per the book 3 (and 2) is done at 2 diff rotations. In truth the Mark dont matter as long as your off the lobe. really?? Somehow I distrust that advice, from my experience small fractions of millimeters off can be disastrous. Distrust all you want. I"m a moron just trying to steer you wrong...

yes I tried and failed. Bike failed for 10k till the oil pump gave out on a long ride.

I did nothing it just worked. ran them first with stock 4-4 and then 4-1. ran good on the street. Then started drag racing it and dropped a few sizes in jets and got better. But I am at 5000 ft elevation.
