Re: Tail lights

Does this mean you don't have the H4 55/60W bulbs in US as standard but the 40/45W Bilux?
I think all European models should have H4 reflectors with bulbs.

Re: carb #1 leaking, oil burning

First you should check your airbox for oil, maybe it is not burned but deposited there. Piston wear would mean white smoke in your mirrors at high revs. If it does not depend much on revs, it could be valve stem seals. Some guys do this kind of job with air pressure in the cylinder to avoid head rem...

Re: cb650.net

Anyone have any other suggestions aside from creating new sections and reposting the material here? Maybe you could create a read-only "archive" section where the whole material is accessible. This archive might be updated with interesting additions that may come from further discussions ...

Re: hot left foot

Welcome here :D as you do not have the heat protection shields, I think you know already why your feet are hot. I wonder why I never tried to remove them as I still used to ride in winter. :? My brakes started squealing a bit after I changed brake pads and disassembled and cleaned the cylinders. Bef...

Re: A summer is coming to it's end

I think it will take about three weeks until it will look like that here. Last year we had a great autumn with really pretty colours and warm weather. As my CB is only registered until september (from the experience of many cold and foggy octobers) I go out with my XR. As it's also safer to handle o...

Re: My new bike, any comments or advise appriciated

just means I have to really lean into them. Yes, but be sure your throttle response is reliable or install engine protectors. Don't try hang off but press the bike a bit, I found that provides more stability and some reserve in case you hit the ground with the footpegs. Welding missing mater...

Re: My new bike, any comments or advise appriciated

Welcome here! Really in a good shape and quite low mileage. And spokes wheels! I think you can have fun with it for a long time. In addition to what you already have done, you could check the gliding bolts of the front brake for being free (in case it is the same construction as the double disc brak...

Re: Addicted to Motorcycling

Looks fine, its worth a try. However if you only heat the oil pan, winter starting still will be a problem as I guess rather lean mixture than easy cranking is the problem. My heated blanket covered the whole engine from below and the loss heat was caught below another blanket that covered the CB fr...

I also would expect that as two different carb types (piston and CV) are available.
If however carb gaskets should be included, check out whether they are the ones you need.

Re: Addicted to Motorcycling

It was a commercial electric blanket for usage in bed from my grandparents. :D It should have typical power data of these things which I however do not know. I will check out whether I still have it, I can have a look for the sticker to find out power. As heating from outside with bad thermal contac...

Re: cb650.net

That's good news, thanks a lot for the work!
But I doubt there is enough activity to have another CB650 related forum.
Nevertheless from the past experience one could guess that some reserve might be useful.
Let's see how it will develop.

Re: Condensation in the speedo and tach

Will it go away with time or should I open them up? There is no reasonable way to open the instruments without damaging them. Usually just riding should solve your problem. If you want to accelerate the process, you can remove the instrument lamps and do a trip at dry weather or use a haidryer. Ano...

Re: Addicted to Motorcycling

When I had my CB the first years it was my only motorcycle and I also ran it in winter.
Sometimes I used an old electric blanket to do some pre-heating of the engine. :D
No joke!

Re: '81 on eBay

Interesting engine protection. Looks a bit like for a dirtbike. There were times when it would have been good to have it. :D
And I was not aware that they also sold double disc comstar RC05's in the US.
