Re: Accelerator Pump Issues

the reality is that this set of carbs are shot and I've decided to replace them with the best on the market or something else. so in the last week I've looked at: 1. finding a good set from an early CB650 - the only set on ebay are horrible (I still bought them) 2. I've looked at retrofitting electr...

Re: Accelerator Pump Issues

Yes Volker you are correct and I have done this a couple of times but if you get rubbish down the stem of the jet brass piece you can't get in to clean it properly, the straight in method enables you to do this - This Idea was a last resort solution

Accelerator Pump Issues

I must have had to strip my PD carbs at least 6 times over the last few years usually after the winter layup and it is always a blockage in the accelerator pump jets. basically you can't get into the jet and over the last 35 years crap has got in there little by little. So this year when she would n...

Re: Stumbling and hard start at Idle and High RPM

I would start by looking at an air leak between the head and the carbs, there are rubber boots that degrade with time and will cause the symptoms you have.

Re: Starting, idling and running .

also I have found that never turning the tap off so keeping the carbs 'wet' when storing is also good practice

Re: Drop-in headlight bulbs to improve?

Upgrade wiring and fit a relay for headlight, then up the wattage.

without the wiring and relay, the extra power will cause you issues with the OEM switches

Re: 26$ for a set of 4 intake boots?

I bought a set of these from china last year, the lasted 6 months before the cracked on each one all around the middle. when I took them off the material was hard.

you get what you pay for I believe, in my opinion if you can't get new genuine, try to get a good used set

Re: Top triple clamp that will fit the 650.

Yes they should fit, because you will end up with two holes (from the original clamp), you will need to tidy it up with a blanking plate (I used 3mm copper as it suited the style) and under I used large, thick washers as it is not flat. you could build up the dips underneath (and holes) with alumini...

Re: Top triple clamp that will fit the 650.

you can take the standard top tree and shave off the cast handlebar lugs. I did mine so I could fit 1 inch drag bars with 2 inch risers, here's a picture

jezebel (my CB650 bobber) won 'best bike' in Readers Lives section of this months edition of 'Back Street Hero's' magazine.

very pleased
