Re: Dumping gas between carbs?
Hi and welcome, we were all new to bikes at one point so don't let that worry you  The carbs are numbered left to right as you are sat on the bike, the far left carb is number one, the far right carb is number 4, this goes for cylinders as well. The pipe that I think you are referring to is yo...

Re: Advice on replacing gaskets
Hi, I personally would replace the cylinder base gasket because it may not leak now but when you undo the head bolts you may disturb it, imagine how you'd feel after doing the top end gaskets only to have the base gasket start blowing after you've finished the job. Another very important thing to re...

Re: neutral switch stays on...
Thanks for getting back to us Tommy, its really good for everyone to know that a problem can be solved with team work, we're all just guy's/gal's trying to keep these old buggers running.

Re: neutral switch stays on...
Hi, the only time I have ever had a problem with the neutral light on all the time was when I trapped the wire between the engine casing and side cover, I managed to put a tiny nick in the insulation.

Re: RPM ISSUES
What flatlander said, my money is on your timing advance weights as well. They seem prone to rust so you should take them out, strip them then clean them up and lubricate them. My advice is to take pictures before doing it so that you put them back together correctly.

Re: Newb. Rebuilding engine. What parts should I order?
Hi Dustin, it depends where you are as to the best parts site. If you are in the US then Partzilla is pretty good but if you are in the UK David Silver Spares is my go to choice. Does the motor need new rings? I wouldn't bother if it doesn't, why spend money that you don't need to. Gaskets are a mus...

Thanks for the info

This is the part that I used, it fit straight on with no mods other than an old handlebar cable adjuster placed in the cable clamp to give the extra lift.

Re: My New(someone’s old)1980 cb650
Hi MikeD, I put a metal choke pulley on a set of 650 PD carbs from a Honda 750 but I can't remember which model 750 it was. I never actually got around to fitting the carbs on a bike but the metal pulley fit ok, would have just had to use a choke cable adjuster at the carb end to give the cable a bi...

Re: cold/ first start for the day and fuse issues
Your description of starting your bike sounds exactly like when I start mine (82 CB650SC Nighthawk/Luxury Custom?), I found that I don't need full choke or it won't start. 3/4 choke is ok for mine plus 3 or 4 twists of the throttle, one push of the button and it fires up, leave it to tick over a cou...

Re: '82 cb650sc project
Haven't posted in a while...I have taken a break to refurbish a house. Learned how to lay vinyl plank floor last week and my knees are complaining that I'm on them too much! Hope to be back on bike tasks in a few weeks. I'll be back when there is more bike progress! I've been doing the same mate, a...

Re: Cam Chain Guide 1981 CB650
Sorry for the delayed response but I was able to locate one on ebay by messaging sellers of Honda CB parts directly to see if they had any guides left in their parts bikes that they had not yet listed. Thank you still George. Glad you got sorted Dom, that one of mine wouldn't be worth the price of ...

Thanks for commenting Skiwatcher, I was beginning to think this forum was only frequented by volker, sweety, and bots! I also wondered if the readership was mostly into factory correct restorations, because nobody comments on this one. I welcome comments both for and against, it's all part of the a...

Re: Cam Chain Guide 1981 CB650
Bumping as I'm about to do a teardown and need one of these as well. Already have the chain and all the gaskets, but I can't for the life of me find a chain guide for my '82 CB650. Where are you located e_filippo? I ask because CB650 motors are pretty common in the UK......its a damn shame that Nig...

Re: Cam Chain Guide 1981 CB650
Hi Dom, Partzilla has the one in your pic listed for 500 and 550 fours. The spare one I have was from a parts engine and TBH its pretty knackered. The one in your pic looks to have one square mounting point where the one in my pic are both round. tensioner blade 002.JPG George, I would still be int...
