Re: CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP
I turned the pilot screw backs in 2 1/8 exactly where they were before when the plugs were all lean and there all still fouled except for #1. #1 the base ring got darker but the porcelain part is still white. On #4 the plug has a thin dark vertical sliver along the side with everything else being fo...

CB650 Spark Splug Problem PLZ HELP
CB650C 1980 4in4 Pipes and K&n filter Idle screws at 2 1/8 turns out + additional 1/8 I finally got my plugs to run lean for the first time instead of fouling them ($80 of plugs now  ). They were too lean so I gave all the idle screws an additional 1/8 of a turn from stock. Now cylinders 2 ...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
I did both but it seemed to throttle better with the K&N filter so I switched it back to that one. Are the plugs too lean though? I dont want to overheat it in the hot weather in CA. Im thinking of turning the pilot screws out 1/8 of a turn to barely richen then up and leave it at that. Maybe th...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
Interesting results today after I switched back to the original K&N filter. Without me touching the idle screw before or after it started with choke then immediately turned it of. The bikes temperature overall seemed a little hotter than the previous filter when warmed up. Throttle response when...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
I forgot to mention I already checked for air leaks by spraying both sides of the boots and no idle change. Ill try the filter trick today and see.

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
I got to ride the bike a little today and it was able to start relatively easy in 72 degree weather. It doesnt smell as bad like it did before. When it started it idled around 1100rpm. Did some light riding and when I held the throttle open at a fixed position the acceleration picked up gradually ev...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
The jets in carbs are the original 90 main jets I never installed the other ones. The bike needs the choke to start but only briefly. If i try starting without choke the bike will start for a split second then stop. After it starts with choke I turn it off after 2 seconds and the rpm rises. Im going...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
Looks like it did not make a difference cleaning those holes and removing those extra washers in the pilot screw. It started easily with choke after a second although its 74 degrees here in CA. I turn off the choke within a few seconds because it stutters like its going to die if left choked, the id...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
Yeah Im trying to keep it stock like a museum piece :D I like stock. I have to send my pipes out to Mexico to get patched from a rust crack and everything re-chromed. Ill try to find some old pics before I started cleaning it up. Yours looks nice and clean especially the tank, good rich color. I goi...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
Thanks for the fast reply. I don't know anyone with a colortune plug but I will probably buy one in the near future for the bike since its not that expensive. I forgot to ask what are those tiny little holes at the air intake throat of the carb by the choke flaps? Theres 3 in each carb. I cleaned th...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
So I was finally able to get through the carbs today and everything was still clean. I polished the brass seats with a qtip in a drill so now there smooth and shiny. Hopefully the needles will appreciate it. When was dissasembling the carbs and floats I measured the height and they looked to be too ...

Re: Throttle butterflies dont retract?
I havent had enough time to get to the carbs yet but I can confirm that the jets are old 90 mains. I left the new ones in the box and never installed them cause they were stamped 95 but I did install the pilot screws that came with it because mine have limiter tabs that get in the way. Im wondering ...
