Spark Plugs

Hi all, I have a question about spark plugs. My 1979 CB650 has D8EA NGK plugs with about 800 miles on them. I live in Pennsylvania and plan to ride all winter which I have not done before. The owners manual mentions that D7EA NGK plugs should be used if temperatures are normally under 41 degrees F. ...

Good advice, I didn't think of that. Will change the oil. Ran about 300 miles on three cylinders. Thanks

Re: running on 3 cylinders

I exchanged the plugs and #1 fired. Bought new plugs and installed them. I thought the spark looked ok but I guess it wasn't. Been riding 3 months on three cylinders and all it took to fix was $10 in plugs. Wow it feels like a different bike. Thanks for the advice.

Re: running on 3 cylinders - 79 CB650

#1 cyliner is not firing so I pulled the plug on #1 today and checked the spark. Spark looks good. Also pulled #4 plug to see how that one fired and they are the same. #4 cylinder is working. Next I opened the float drain on #1 to make sure that gas was flowing to the #1 carb and that looked good. I...

Re: drum brake

Working on the front brakes, I took the brake and master cylinder to the local bike shop. ( single disk on 79 CB650 ). Got it back after he said he cleaned out the system. I worked on it for two days trying to draw brake fluid through the system but could not get any to flow. Then took it back to th...

Re: drum brake

Thanks for all the input Mainerider. The vacuum bleed sounds like the way to go to get things started. I'll give that a try. Is there anything to be concerned about using this method?

Re: drum brake

I took the brake assembly on the front fork to them with the line and master cylinder. They said they blew out the brake assembly. I am not sure how much they took apart.
Have been just using the handle lever and filling the reservior. I am not familiar with suction bleeding.

Re: drum brake

The caliper was removed, cleaned and replaced in the master cylinder with a new kit. If that is what you mean. Even if I disconnected the hose, shouldn't fluid move through the mater cylinder when you release and depress your lever. I know the whole system has a lot of air because it was apart to wh...

Re: drum brake

well the front brake is not going as good as expected on the 79 CB650. I removed the total brake and took it to the local bike ship to have them clean and blow it out. A master cylinder rebuild kit was installed. Took it home and hooked everything up and topped off the master cylinder with fluid. I ...
