Re: how would you mount this to your bike?
I'm not in front of my bike, but i would start the problem solving strategy by walking around the bike and determining what criteria you need to fulfill and what real estate is available. Does it need to be accessible while you ride? Does it need to be readily accessible, or can you 'hide' it? Does ...

Re: Carb Cleaning -- success
Crap, didn't know about the felt washers, unless you mean the one just under the ... what's the thing on top with the diaphragm inside... CV? i took two of them out. Wondering if i lost the other two... i might be in trouble. They're under a black plastic part that is held in with one screw. If not ...

Carb Cleaning -- success
Executive summary: Idle jet passages can be cleaned by boiling the carbs. I split my carbs and did 2 at a time. Remove everything you can. Cover with water, add a cup of Simple Green. Boil 2-3 hours. Detail and story: When i bought my CB650C, i noticed two of the exhaust pipes were rusty from the ca...

Re: Ignition switch wiring
I think there is an error on the wiring diagram. As shown, it would do nothing. When I compare the wiring to another similar model (1978 CB750A) it makes more sense. "ON" connects brown to brown/white. "Park" connects hot to a second brown lead, which has a leg to the brown lead ...

Re: Ignition switch wiring
I read something about the ignition closing the circuit on the lighting, but in the diagram the lighting circuit is closed just as it comes out of the switch. WTH??

New housing for speedo/tach?
I've opened up a Honda speedo before, and the ring becomes a mess. Has anybody replaced the whole housing with something less intricate? Reasons: 1. housing and chrome base are dented, rusty, nasty looking 2. faces are dirty, crackling, i want to update with something custom 3. speedo needle broke o...

Ignition switch wiring
Just a question. In theory, if i wanted to delete the keyed ignition, I think I can simply insert a single toggle switch. According to the wiring diagram below, red and black are connected when the key is turned to "on." I can't make heads or tails of the other connection, brown-to-brown. ...

Re: Carb removal difficulty
I don't have any problem getting them out of the boots, and the strap technique to get them back in works just fine. It's trying to slide them sideways in/out from between the motor and air box. It seems like the throttle and choke connectors want to work against me and act as stops. I have decided ...

Carb removal difficulty
I have now taken the carbs off the bike a total of, oh, maybe 10 times. EVERY time is a pain in the a$$, both getting them off and getting them back on. Is there a secret trick, maneuver, technique, spell to getting them off more easily?

Re: Tank paint restoration
Nobody's getting back to you, so I'll share what I know and let everybody else tell me how wrong I was. :D :D :D Remove the tank from the bike and drain all the gas you can. If you don't get it all, just be aware that there is some in there, and be careful when you roll the tank around. Clean the ta...

Front blinkers
When I got my bike, it didn't have front turn signals. I bought some after-market LED blinkers from the local car parts store, the kind with the threaded base. I've seen people mount them to the sides of the headlight, but haven't figured out how they did it. Pictures, comments, diagrams, descriptio...
