Re: Ignitors or all the electrical

No photo, dropped my phone. With the change of the coil and #3 plug wire i took it for a drive today, seemed still a bit sluggish going thru the gears. Ran a few miles down the hiway and still sluggish going up a hill, backed off and it came out of it. Went back for home so i went full throttle to s...

Re: Ignitors or all the electrical

No vacuum sync, only benched. I grabbed my meter and pulled the tank to check the coils Right side had a big crack in it, but it tested 3.2 ohms, left was 3.0 ohms. Then i found the #3 plug wire was falling off at the plug, it wouldn't grab so i swapped it out. Started up and warmed up, gave it a fe...

Ignitors or all the electrical

Here we go again, last year i had replaced my pd50a rack on my 79 cb650 with another set. Did a total strip down and cleaning. Did the same to my cb 750 carb rack that i have as spares. I have a sluggish issue over 5000rpm in 5th gear. It also does the same thing with the 750 carbs as well. I tested...

Re: cam chain noise

I watched your video and it is too loose. Drop your oil pan and check it for position. If everything is ok, then back off the adjuster nut for the tensioner and turn on the key and shut off the kill switch. Use the starter to turn it over a few times then see if if takes u the slack. If that don't w...

Re: Air Box to Carburetor Boots

Wish i had a photo of my setup to show you; the seal will take the shape of the air box, try not to over tighten it and make it out of shape, its supposed to be almost a rectangle shape.

Re: Air Box to Carburetor Boots

Best chance is to try to get better shaped ones from a bike junkyard. There is a rubber seal bout 1/2" thick between the airbox and the piece that has the actual air filter in it. I had to use 2 of those seals stacked together to get the airbox out enough to have the boots reach and seal on the...

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment

There's a big knob on the right side between carbs 3&4 for the idle adjustment. Are you using that to adjust? these engines idle between 1100/1500rpm. Try that. May have to sync them too. Do you have a shop manual for these? 79 and 80's had pd50 series carbs; don't pay too much attention to the ...

Re: Argh.

Those carbs are off a 72 to 75 750. But when tuned up they work real good. I don't have the links but try the SOHC forum; they have a lot more info on these types of carb racks and plenty of links and stuff for the kits ad general cleaning and everything else. I have a set of these in my shed and i ...

Re: used piston ring please

No reason why it won't work; i used a ring from my parts bike in #3 cylinder last year. As long as your jugs are score free you will be fine.

Re: Timing chain Soft Link

What company did you get the chain from? Can you provide a link? I replaced my timing chain last summer and i had to split my chain as it had no master link like yours. Use a ball peen hammer and a few taps, keep doing it until you feel comfortable with it being secure. I put 7000 kms on mine since ...

Re: Sealing washer?

No, go ahead and use them again. If you have a small torque wrench use it on these to get it right, i can't remember the exact foot pounds you need on these small bolts.
