Re: Wire harness repairs

That dont sound as stock harness at all as the harness is connected to the regulator/rectifier and that is connected to the stator with at least one connector, hmm. Well, my tip is to get rid of all unnecessary connections though as to much of them can cause to much resistance. 8) Thi...

Re: Wire harness repairs

Electrical system as a harness is not so difficult to understand though but the more connections the more recistance. There is the silicon rectifier though that i know is connected to the function so you cant start the engine with a gear engaged without having the clutch engaged. A safety fe...

Re: Stator/Brush Wiring Harness

I'm finally getting to the stator output repair. Is the sequence of the yellow wires/pins in the connector critical?

Re: Pod Filter Alternative?

long ago on the sohc4 site someone used the plenum and a large single filter to replace the filterbox. it was on a 550 and looked like a good setup. I finally found the post it was the Olivia build. I reads the owners ride reports after installing the mod, all positive. He went from a small round o...

Re: Wire harness repairs

Well anything is repairable but more connections means more resistance and hence voltage drops, so to me the easiest soulutions is in fact to replace it all. But by all means repairing it is also a solution. I can assist with the length and color of all cables if you want to build you...

Re: Wire harness repairs

It's an easy enough repair, don't feel the need to replace the entire harness. I have new wire and also new connectors and pins. I'm not familiar with these types of fuses, I was trying to determine for certain whether this was factory installed or not. If not, it's gone and I'll start fresh with ne...

Wire harness repairs

While I'm waiting parts for my carb , I thought I'd address some wire harness issues from the previous owner. I plan to replace the 3 crimped connections pictured with solder and heat shrink. Can anyone tell me what he large blue item is on the right that's on the heavier gauge red wire. 0904171949....

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

Why do you want to replace the original air filter housing? From what I've read on this site and others is that fitting pod filters leads to lots of carb problems. I'm with you on not fitting pod filters to the carbs, and don't plan to replace the air box/plenum just the housing that holds the air ...

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

Have I referred you to the manual in this thread yet? http://hondacb650.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14053 It will be very helpful to you in knowing what to do with your carbs. BTW: I see that someone has already replaced the original screws with stainless steel hex screws like the manual recommends...

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

0828172137.jpg The other is on carb 3 in the same location as the drain screws on 1,2 & 4. This sentence confuses me. First, this is carb #2, not 3. Next, the circled area is no where near the drain screws on the other carbs. I'm 0 for 3 so far!!! I circled in blue what I incorrectly referred t...

Wow... I really need to take the time to understand how the carbs work! So I'm guessing the brass nipple that screws directly into the carb body on the bowl side is the one that needs to be capped?

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

My carbs are a bit different. I found 2 brass numbs, one on the accelerator pump. 0828172138.jpg The other is on carb 3 in the same location as the drain screws on 1,2 & 4. 0828172137.jpg That numb was connected with a hose to the underside of the accelerator pump to the hose barb circled in red...

Re: Pod Filter Alternative?

Based on everything I've read, I'm convinced the air box is a necessity unless you are a carb whisperer. That said, has anyone tried mounting a pod or oval shaped filter to the air box and eliminating the air cleaner housing? I think this would be a happy medium between pods and all stock for those ...

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

On a new note, I have a new tank without the vacuum-assisted petcock. I'm trying to figure out what to cap off on the carbs since I don't have a vacuum-assisted petcock. I can't seem to locate the "vacuum tit" as the McGrogor manual calls it, am I missing something????

Re: 1982 CB650SC carb cleaning

I would say that's my bad  I was clicking on the usual parts sites, and so used to seeing "out of stock" that I missed the fact they were available on partzilla.
