Re: CDI box failure rates and supplemental casualties

Oh, another thing, how hard is it to kill the CDI by operating everything correctly and just having an electrical problem "happen"? The current owner told me he had just a few minutes ago fried it (he called me as soon as it happened to tell me so I would not waste my trip if the replaceme...

Re: CB650C Custom 4x4 exhaust question

Welcome to the forum, by the way! I would say no. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Thanks, and thanks for the reply. I was leaning that way, especially as this was my learner bike (have other ideas in mind for later) and I really did not want to sink more than necessary into it to keep it acting ni...

Re: Resurrecting my baby from her deep sleep, Folsoml's bike

Clean all the connections also. Ride it and see how much oil it leaks and if you can deal with it. I fully intend to do just that. I also am looking to determine what the main fuse is. I heard on another thread in this forum it was a 30 amp fuse, but is it a chip, a BUSS, an AGA, what? Any info on ...

Re: CDI box failure rates and supplemental casualties

Oh, and the current owner said he tried to jump start it because of a dead battery, and the ground wire was not tight on the connection of the battery. He said he saw the smoke come out of the box when it happened right at that point. I have the new CDI in hand, I have a new battery in hand, I can h...

Re: CDI box failure rates and supplemental casualties

This is what concerns me... So what sort of fuse is this? I mean, is it an AGC, Buss, or something else? Can I get one at work? I am heading out to get the bike in the morning, it would suck if I was not prepared to hear it run while in the presence of someone who has ridden it before... I can likel...

CB650C Custom 4x4 exhaust question

Is there any reason really to change the stock exhaust from the 4x4 to any other configuration for the 81 CB650C Custom if the current exhaust doesn't have damage to it? What can be gained or lost from such a change?

CDI box failure rates and supplemental casualties

Hello, all I am new! I am picking up a bike tomorrow, and a few weeks ago the owner of it fried his CDI (CB650C Custom) by having some sort of a short when he jumpstarted it on a dead battery with a loose connection or some such thing. Until that time he supposedly had a good relationship with the b...

Re: Resurrecting my baby from her deep sleep, Folsoml's bike

Guys, you are scaring me! I am picking up my 650 Custom (81) tomorrow (constant issues have made me put it off for weeks, now I am about to FINALLY get a chance to go get it), and though the bike has a great reputation for having charging issues I sure hope I don't go through this sort of thing. Of ...
