1979 CB650 with only 23K miles. Runs good, but I don't like the faring. Are they easy to remove and put on a new headlight and signals?

Welcome! Fairings are not hard to remove, just a little time consuming.

I still wonder why most 79's end up having those barn doors. When looking for the replacement parts remember some are 79 specific.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

I have no idea what you mean, cb650. What is a barn door and what parts are you referring to that are 79 specific? Thanks!

barn door as the big pos bolted to the front. Look at pics of other 650's and you can see many diffs from 79 to the other years.

The 1979 has different side covers, different looking airbox ?manifold?, longer tank shaped differently, The motor was updated a few years later, the carbs were updated twice at least, the seat section of the frame is flatter than other years, different seat pan.

I think to remove the fairing you will need a headlight bucket and ears. Maybe it's all still under there though.

Nice find! I agree, the fairing is not the most slimmed version I've seen.
You might even get a few more miles per gallon if you remove it :D
