New old guy

Postby tinboatcapt » Thu Nov 10, 2016 9:04 am

I recently added an '81 CB650C to the stable. I have always liked the look of bikes from that era, even when they were new. In the 80's I couldn't keep more than one bike so I continued to pile up the miles on my '72 Suzuki GT750J. Then BMW brought the K100's to the USA. I had two of those.
Now I ride a 2000 Honda ST1100. "Large Marge" is now accumulating miles above the 100K spot on the odometer.

I bought the CB650C on a whim for a few hundred dollars. It ran poorly at low rpm but would sing a sweet song above 3K RPM. So after a carb cleaning, head gasket, new igniters, and tires it is better. It still needs to have the idle (low speed) jets opened up.

I would like to use this bike as a tug for a sidecar rig. I currently have an '86 Wing with a California FS 1. I found that I enjoy the hack more around town than on the road. So a smaller, lighter rig would be better.

So here she is straight out of the shed she came from, not even washed yet:

Ride safe

So now I've proven that I am better with a wrench than with the computer. Feel free to look around my Flickr account at a few pic's of my bikes and trips.
