Oil leak FINALLY solved, got out for a rip to celebrate

Postby flatlander80 » Mon Jun 05, 2017 9:38 pm

I have a 1980 CB650C that I've worked on, restored/modified for the last few years. After redoing the head last year, my oil pump started leaking. The o-ring that sits between the pump and the bike is not on any Honda parts diagram. After trying an o-ring that was "close" almost ended in disaster (oil all over the back wheel, almost dumped the bike) I finally found a supplier that could order in a 53mm x 3mm o-ring. After a 2 week wait... SUCCESS!

Washed her up and took her for a proper tour on Sunday... it's good to ride again and not worry about home much oil is hitting your back wheel, chain, heel, etc...

Now, onto my 75 Goldwing project......

Glad it worked out! How did you decide on that size? Fiche shows it as a 46X3 O-ring--if you are talking about part 91309-703-000.

The 46x3 is under the outer cover. I ordered a 53x3 (measured the outer diameter of the pump at 53mm), and it worked perfect. No more leak...

Beautiful bike.
Is it the original seat only changed the cover
Where did you get the seat cover?

That is the original seat, but slightly modified. I shaved down the foam, rounding it off in the back. I added higher density foam (from a camping mat) for support. I also trimmed a bit off the bottom "dip" on the sides to make the seat look flatter.

The cover came from Ebay. I ordered 2 (the other one for my Goldwing)... pretty happy with the result!
