Hi all,
Yes it's still possible; I got this one for free.
It was not running, but I got it started already.
can some of you tell me more about the 650ca?
thanks for answering

Welcome to the site.
Don't know anything about "ca" but your bike looks like a custom to me. I am sure others will point you in the right direction.
Which year is your bike?

Re: CB 650ca Got it free!
Thanks for the compliment.
Im sure about the ca, because the goverment-documents of the bike says so. these papers were released in march '81
I think it is imported from another continent
When I got this bike the previous owner claimed there were only 3 bikes like this one are present in europe. (I dont that is really true, but I can prove him wrong yet)
I got it without battery and it hadn't run for 10 years.
After adding the battery it started without problems. (Lucky Me !!)
It sound is like a deep drum.
Now I've to clean the mess up:
changing fluids and tires
testing the brake
rebilding the seat
O yes; passing the test for my licencens! that will be july 15th

Re: CB 650ca Got it free!
Welcome here!
For free and running without much work is not too bad. This bike looks like a 1980 Custom with different exhaust, cut and moved turn signals and other minor modifications or missing parts. If it was a very early Custom I would expect a very low frame number, PD50A or B carbs and a single front disk.
With your frame number you may find out a bit more on years and types at http://www.kleinjung.de/techdata/index.htm (on German!). In the sense of this list, e.g. mine is a CB650Ca2G.
Good luck for your license!

BTW you have a keen eye for details; indeed the turninglights a moved to another place. On the front they were cut off and moved to the back.
If its an early model, and I think you are right about that, they changed the front wheel; now Ive got 2 brake disks.
Also the exaust is changed: the prev owners thought it would last longer if they would join the 4 pipes to 1.
Like in another topic, this one was also leaking oil on the head; in particular that famous leftside bold. A (not so) genious motorhead stopped the hole with a foaming glue!!!!!!
Indeed Heli coils will work exelent for this job. the only thing I'm afraid off is to handle the carbs. Are they really that delicate to be handled, or is it just like dismantling and reattaching like a brakeclaw?
At idle speed it has a sound like a chain rattling on metal or it also sound like sprokes interacting : will it help to change the oil and tighteing (how is this word written correctly?) the Camshaftchain?
greatings Jeroen

Re: CB 650ca Got it free!
The 1 vs. 2 disks is no simple wheel swap as the fork spacing is different and the right leg does not have the caliper holders. Disks and calipers are different, too. Would be a quite complete front swap then.
Getting carbs in and out is no fun due to limited space.
Change the oil is a good idea when you just got a bike but it won't stop the noise. Start with camchain. To get the camchain reliably tensioned, remove the top center valve cover to feel camchain tension with a screwdriver directly at the camshaft sprocket. Turn the engine forward with a 24mm socket at the right side of the crankshaft to verify tension at every position. Sticky tensioners may ask for severala djustment efforts.
However some idle noise called "clutch rattle" here is normal, however. Carb synchronization may help to reduce it a bit.

Good shape and lots of modifications. In this sense one could easily believe that statement of the PO:
Your 2CV on the picture?Jerome wrote:When I got this bike the previous owner claimed there were only 3 bikes like this one are present in europe. (I dont that is really true, but I can prove him wrong yet)

Re: CB 650ca Got it free!
Thanks,....
No my two daffy (2cv's) were used to the last bold.
After those I used a BX 19.....Im a bit a crito fan
There are now two other thing I've to repair;
1 the oilpump; after I crashed it yesterday, the famous red light kept on burning. I think the oilpump is in someway broke.....prob old-ageware?)
2 the Carb's need to be cleand and synchronised...I'm missing the nice highpitch sound of a running engine. the first sparkplug from the leftside is carbon-dry black. After renewing it this problem remained thou the exoustpipe is now as hot as the other pipes. The problem disappears when I go flat in the corner....

Re: CB 650ca Got it free!
How did you crash the oil pump? The red light burning might also mean the switch is gone or the cable is shorted. Remove the contact from the switch, oil light should go off then. Oil pressure switch should open at about .7 bars or so. Something you can produce with a bicycle pump and an O-ring as a seal.
Plugs should look equal. Did you replace the other three plugs, too? Carb synchronization is the final thing to do after camshaft tension, valve settings, ignition timing etc. are all right. A good optical synchronization should result in idle a bit above 1000rpm and a reasonable running behaviour. Vacuum synchronization is fine tuning and usually won't help if something else is wrong. Remove an outer floater bowl to check out if your carbs might need cleaning. If yes, consider that your tank might need that, too. If not too serious, an inline filter is useful.
