I think it is quite difficult to move in the region of a mixed classic-modern look but you did solve it quite fine. I wonder a bit whether the red paint is fuel resistant enough to stay on the carbs for some time. :roll:

well the paint has been on there for just over a year now and hasne come off yet! its ok if fuel gets on it but if you rub them then it comes off, i can get some petrol resistant lacquer to put on them in the future. have just purchased some drilled front discs from ebay so they will be going on soon.

I'm no friend of drilled discs as the holes are often the origin of small cracks. They may grow over the years to a real threat once they are hot and you really brake hard and you do not think of that any more. They are hard to see at all in an early phase, so inspect the disks carefully before you mount them.

i have inspected the discs very carefully and have found no cracks at all but i will be aware now that you have mentioned this and will check reqularly.
