Re: Newly aquired 1979 CB 650 project
The tank does look good in the picture , but the other night I slipped and got a small ding on the right side as I was backing into my shop

Re: Newly aquired 1979 CB 650 project
I'm back home again after attending a 4 day scooter rally as a road test for my bike . It went pretty well , I had a minor oil leak which I found was the O rings on my oil pump . I guess the aftermarket ones do not stand up to the heat from the engine . I found I had difficulty shifting down into the lower gears and it must be attributed to a stretched clutch cable as the adjustments are right at the end . Other than the minor issues the bike performed very well and my friends loved it I will decide this winter if I'm going to tear it down and refine everything or just fix minor things and ride it .

Try picture resize. Up to 250kb *.jpg should work.

Re: Newly aquired 1979 CB 650 project
Thanks Volker , let's try this again .
I just installed a set of Woodcraft clip-ons that a friend gave me . My wrists feel alot better than the narrow clubmans and lowered the stance of the bike a couple inches .

Well ... looks like time to take the bike in
I was wanting to do a winter tear down but a friend wants me to get his Yamaha 650 project running , being a one bike workshop It'll have to wait . I'm waiting for a carb kit for my snowmobile so I can get ready for the white stuff

Re: Newly aquired 1979 CB 650 project
Good job on the project. Just curious as to what elevation you are at, and what jetting set up you ended up with on the PD carbs with pod filters?
Re: Newly aquired 1979 CB 650 project
Thanks , I'm at 1500ft elevation on a plateau . To be honest I haven't look at the jetting yet . I've checked the plug tips from time to time and I may be running slightly rich . I have no history from the PO , so I'm assuming the jets most likely are stock .

I'm having the same problem here in Florida. I almost felt like putting on a jacket today.
