Riding the wave - Just got my first CB as well

Postby DonSoares » Fri Apr 13, 2012 7:22 am

81 Custom with 7k original miles. Sat for a year but runs decently well and everything works, nothing leaks. Needs tuning, fluids, the whole once over for reliability and then cosmetic stuff. Going to ditch the windshield and luggage rack, and probably repaint, it's rattle can blue and it's ugly in person. Loving all the bikes I've seen on here so far, looking forward to struggling through carb rebuilds with ya'lls help!

Welcome here! :D

Nice bike however something ugly seems to have happened to the header pipes. Hope one just can clean it up.

looks great and only 7k miles on it, nice find!

Looking forward to reading that thread on the rebuilding of carbs, I'll be going through the same thing shortly.

Welcome,

Looks like an oil cooler and an aftermarket horn were put on.

Yea that horn does look out of place. What's the stock one like?

I hope those headers do clean up, we'll see.

Any pros/cons to the oil cooler? Doesn't seem to leak otherwise no idea about it.

Thanks all

The stock one looks like a normal car horn, a bit smaller. Placed at the front center frame where yours has the oil cooler.
You certainly find a picture in the show it off section.

Nothing wrong about an oil cooler. Though not required for normal riding.
