It takes a little fiddling in the begining because all bikes are different. It's nothing difficult, just takes a bit of patience, logic and testdriving.

Checking float/fuel height wih a clear tube attached to the bottom nipple and inspection of the plugs regularly is a very good starting point.

Thanks, I feel more confident now. I would hate to have to take apart my carbs apart again since it took me forever to clean and put them back together although I think I could do it a lot faster now since I made my mistakes the first time.

I just had a few quick question if you dont mind helping me out.

- Does the arrow on the rubber intake boot have to be pointing towards the engine? ( so if the front of the bike was north, that means the arrow would pointing north)

I have them on right now and pointing towards the engine(north), but I am having a difficult time pushing the carbon into rubber intake.

The arrow shows the direction of the flow.
They should point towards the front of the bike.
Smearing on a dab of oil helps if they are tough getting on.

You could always call them "pub racers".....
Well, maybe not........ as fitting as that may sound, it's just the plain truth that it would be a horrible idea!
I suppose that most of my bad ideas have sounded good in theory :-)

( To clarify, I am not saying too drink and ride! I actually do not stand in approval, even if it does sound appealing. it is not worth it!)
A project bike is very revealing..... like for example..... I've come to realize that every time I project how long something will take, I need to just double it...... I'll then be about 1/2 way there!

This weekend I pulled out the Machine from storage and had some time to tinker with a few things I wasn't happy with.

- I relocated my coils, the were mounted very badly and way to low by the previous owner. New stainless brackets were fabricated.

- My shifter looked quite dull so I gave it a drill bit treatment.

- Mounted new shocks.

I got bored of the tank lock but I feel it's a CB650 part that I don't want to scrap, and since I'm using the stock tank it's a keeper.
Did my best to make it less bulky.

I promised a picture of my choke and here it is.

I like the choke relocation. Did you shorten the cable yourself or did you buy it somewhere?

It's the stock cable that I shortened and resoldered. If you heat the end of the sleeve the endcap slides off and can be used again with a little glue.

After taking a ride I noticed that my muffler hanger, an iron contraption that looks like a blacksmith hammered it out of a solid piece of steel was loose.

I cut out a piece of 5mm alu and drilled a few holes. A new custom piece that will never rust AND it weighs 1/4 of the stock one.

Yesterday I had some spare time and a flat surface needing attention.
The big hole at the starter will get a brass mesh and the lettering will be filled with brass paint.

Here's a very short startup and rev clip.
The bike is going in for a full respray, that's why the tank and hump are different colors.
The mirror is temporary, new bar end mirrors are in the mail.
