Could someone also point me to where i can purchase these jets?

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate every help I can get.

Thanks

The 79. and 80 both used the PD50 mechanincal carbs. Look at the link in my signature for more info on them.

I bought my jets from www.siriusconinc.com. I don't know if it's the same jets on a 79. My carbs are PD51A.

Thanks again, for all your help guys. I starting to think that our carbs are not the same, judging by the slow jet on your carbs that can be screwed off and on. The slow jet on my 79 cb 650, is molded on the carb it self, so I am pretty sure i cannot take them off, or maybe there is a trick i dont know about.

Thanks again guys, hopefully the stock slow jet doesnt give me too many problems.

Hi JorgenL great looking project do you still have the factory rear tail light? and if so would you be interested in selling it as parts in Australia for the cb650 are very scarce and i cant find any replacements ill probably having more luck finding rocking horse dung than parts over here :p

The only jet that I can screw off is the main jet. The slot jet is pressed in and protrudes maybe 12 mm from the carb. It's removable by grabbing it with a pair of pliers and twist while pulling straight out.

Daniel
Unfortunately my taillight was cracked with pieces missing and in very bad condition so I threw it away.
I believe I have seen some on ebay.de although my german is a bit rusty.

Thanks

I wrapped my slow jet in a piece of cloth (to protect it) and pulled it out with pliers.
The new ones can be pressed in and seated using a small hammer and a block of wood to protect the jet. (knock them in gently)
It's even possible to put back the original jets if you just cleaned them.
The slow jets are not threaded. They look like this. http://www.jetsrus.com/photos/photo_jet_keihin_3L.jpg

So you mean to tell me your slow jets (42), are just wedged in there, with not bondage adhesive what so ever?

I have a history of screwing up, you think its a hard job and not recommended for a guy like me that is new to all this?

Thanks

Yup just pressed in without anything else.
I have removed them from two different carb racks and it was very easy. Twist a little while pulling straight out, don't wiggle.
I really didn't think much about it when I did them because it was so easy. Just find some pliers that make a good grip. I used an adjustable polygrip plier, like vice grips.

Replacements are easily available. So don't worry about "what if".

As Jorgen mentioned. Use a piece of cloth to keep from scratching the brass, and twist as you pull straight out.

Did you have to change the jets to run the pods? How does it run with the pods?

reading earlier into this thread, I realized i was going to have a hard time tuning my carbs with the stock jets and air pods.

I actually got my new jets on my carbs and now i am just assembling the carbs together and it should be ready to go. I hope things go smooth.

PS

The slow jets were a lot easier to take off and put than i thought. Thanks again for all your help guys
