1981 CB650C cafe style project!

Postby Henryford » Thu Feb 14, 2013 1:19 am

Hey everyone! Just picked up an '81 CB650C with only 4,500 original miles. I'm taking it in a cafe style direction, and have just stripped it down to the frame to cut off the unnecessary brackets, weld or bolt in a tail bar, and powdercoat it flat black. Once I get things put back together I'll be making a fiberglass seat and seat hump, getting a 4 into 1 exhaust, and whatever else pops into my head while I'm at it. Here's the bike before and after disassembly - wish me luck!

Is that bike in a CAMPER??? Good luck with your project, can't wait to see how it goes! Keep us in the loop with pics! These things are always sweet to see come back to life. Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly...

Haha, it is indeed in the back of my conversion van - had to stick it in there to bring it home, and since I live in the city of rain (Seattle) I figured I'd just keep it there to stay dry

Took me eight hours to strip everything, I'm not sure if that's fast or not... When I get down to working on a bike, I focus like none other :D
