CB650C Project from P. I. Needs help of a brethren..
Re: CB650C Project from P. I. Needs help of a brethren..
Great Pictures. What are you going to do about those cam journals? They aint lookin too good. By the way, if anyone needs some tight shots of the carb linkage re the choke shafts let me know, I took some tight shots before I took mine apart for dipping. Cheers.

As said no drain holes for the oil gallery.
Valve seats are very close specs. So better don't swap old valves in old seats.
Also valve stems might get thicker at the top due to the "hammering" during operation.
Also working with tools in th retaine region may have some small effect.
So valves have to run free in their operating position while putting them in/out may cause some trouble. Nothing to worry but to be careful. It is a good idea to sand the top of a valve stem a bit instead of pulling a valve out with force if necessary.
No idea what the cut valve stem seals are for. Probably no good idea if they may hit the normal valve stem seals. A good idea in any case is new valve stem seals however.

Great pics. Thank you.

In the pic of the center cam journals/valve pockets you can see the holes in the sides that drain the oil back to the cam chain area. These holes line up with the outer two plugs in the outside ends of the casting. The center plug is the oil supply for the cam journals.

Wild Chili's powerplant
Is this engine support bolt/hanger removable? I tried to pound it a few but it won't budge. It doesnt looks like it is welded. It turns though.

Yes. That collar, and bolt are removable. The collar is siezed to the bolt. You will need to soak them with penetrating oil. then either heat the collar, or place a nut on the threaded end of the bolt, and pound it through the collar.

Done! Time to strip the paint!
Re: CB650C Project from P. I. Needs help of a brethren..
I see that you removed the bearings in the wheels to strip them. I am going to assume that you plan on using new bearings when reassembling. Make sure that you flush any traces of the striping chemicals off from the wheels. They could possibly weaken the material around the rivets over time.
What color scheme are you planning on for the rebuild?

Re: CB650C Project from P. I. Needs help of a brethren..
black, silver and polished. cant really switch the major color to anything that you like here(black) coz the registration includes color. you can but have to run into a scheme of bureaucracy in the system. lots of work just for the color.
yes I am replacing every bit of wheel bearing and seals in this machine.
speaking of bearings. are those tapered neck bearings(triple tree) really are bolt on and will not run into problem fitting in?

Hey everyone! I thought I should post an update. Well, everything is still in pieces.
But got the case all cleaned up! Bought myself a powerful compressor that allows me to do the blasting myself. I guess I am going to learn a lot of how to use it in other stuff.
Why the two tone shade? I have been messing around with 2 medium. Soda and sand. I guess you already know which is which.
Word up to usbear! Keeping me company during downtime.
