Postby 79650cafe » Fri Jun 07, 2013 10:52 pm

G'day from australia,
HI everyone i just joined this great site and i thought id better share my project with everyone. This is my first ever bike project and actually my first ever road bike (i havnt even got my license yet haha) Ive ridden dirt bike mainly 2 strokes for a while but for some reason never had a road bike. I LOVE the cafe look and hopefully mine with do the style some justice.

Let me know what you guys think...nothing better then some constructive criticism..

Cheers

cheers guys!! like i said its my first bike project so I'm sort of making it up as i go along. My rear wheel has a nasty wobble now so I've stopped work until i figure out what is wrong with it. Hopefully just a bent wheel or shot bearings. I just put the new clip ons on and finished my seat and put some rear lights on. ill post more pics soon

We're in the same boat dude! I'm working a 82 650 ground up into a bobber. I'll be getting my hands on. A 79 750f in the future too and plan to make it into a street bike type hybrid.
Kinda like this. I know, money needed to make it so, so a super long investment. Well, enjoy!

yeh the money is a killer. Im not sure where you are but I'm in australia and i think the biggest problem is everything has to come from the states and even though say a tacho for example is only $70 US by the time i get it here it costs me about $120 AUS. Its a real pain. I would love to move to the states and just build new toys in the garage all day every day. Everything is so cheep there

Dang, I figured that Australia got some pretty sweet import deals from Japan, thus lower prices on good parts for classic Japanese bikes. I'm into the cafe racer movement as well, looking to turn my '79 into one, but in Iowa mostly everyone rides Harley's with a few riding crotch rockets and a very select few riding cafe racers or bobbers.

I'd love to visit Australia to get some bitchin' stuff, mostly because one of my favorite movies ever is Mad Max. Supposedly, a pair of Alpinestars Hi-Point boots can easily be found in pawn shops for roughly $50-70AUS. Paid $120US for mine, but worth every penny 8).
