Welcome here!
looks good but also a lot of work.
Well, that's why we are here.
With regard to the missing head bolt washers and the poor compression on 1+2, have a close look at these threads down in the case!

Re: 1981 honda cb650 project bike
Looking great!!
Just make sure you keep the bike somewhat leveled.
I got carried away and lowered mine a bit in the front (1.5" through the triple trees) without doing the rear.
The bike went from smooth ride to really scary! It started to wobble on a straight road when doing 90 km/h. Braking with the rear brake was the only way I could make it stop.
When I lowered the rear about an inch the wobble disappeared.

Re: 1981 honda cb650 project bike
Thanks for the feedback jorgen!
Can't remember what i've done recently as I feel I've taken it apart too many times too count,
But here it is, Running great.. Would be great too finish up the wiring but no luck so far.
Very temporary custom seat, Already have a new seat made just needs too be upholstered.. Doesn't have those ugly brackets and wraps around the frame for a cleaner look.
And here's another thought as another cb650 followed me home one night, so I threw the tank and side covers.
not bad.

Nice build so far. I have a few questions for you (I'm thinking of doing a café on mine)
Do you have a problem with the bars hitting the tank? I see that you made your own seat pan, how are you attaching it to the bike? do you use the original mounts?

Don't have a problem with the bars hitting the tank, The seat pan was molded too the frame and bolts through the gas tank and two mounts in the back ya can't see,
Looks like you live pretty close too me, let me know if you have any questions. Upload some pictures of your bike!

Re: 1981 honda cb650 project bike
This is how it sits right now.
I just got it running on all four cylinders. It had a couple of jets completely clogged.
Not very pretty but it has potential. I can't complain too much I got it for free.

Re: 1981 honda cb650 project bike
Love the seat, but the project is now my son's so it will be up to him on that. He is 19 also... ok 20 in a few days.
He told me last night that he wants to get back into riding again. (He stopped because of medical reasons ) I had offered the bike to him when he came home from North Carolina but he did not plan on riding any more so he declined. Now that he want to ride again I told him the offer still stands and he accepted. Most likely he will get it running good, new tires and maybe re-paint the tank (That thing is ugly ) and ride it for the rest of the summer. I will still be the one posting questions and asking for help when needed.
