I've had a busy week!, my project has been tested (MOT), she is licenced and I've put 120 shakedown miles on her.
I've only had to push her home twice . The first time was when the master fuse blew (I miss calculated total load) and the second time when the Fuel hose came off the tap due to me putting the clamp on the nipple and behind it and I left a trail of petrol down the road.
Still, she is running very well, the last carb pull to sort the mid range fuelling (lift the needles) and to sort a crimp in the boots has her running very strong, lovely idle and no flat spots.
Time to chase the guy painting my new tank I think -

Re: Project Update
Bikes registered before 1983 do not need indicators, by emergency stop, I assume you refer to hazard lights, again no not for this age of bike.

Nice, over here it's bikes registered before 1974 I think
No, hazard lights are not needed over here but the ugly red "kill switch/emergency stop" thingy on the right side by the throttle is.
Looks much nicer with clean handlebars.

I did think the tank did not seem to match the rest of the bike. Is this tank being painted, or will you swap this one for the finished tank?
The bike looks nice, though. I like the combination of black and gold.

Re: Project Update
the new tank is being painted (black with airbrushed artwork) but is the same shape/size with two fillers and the GPS speedo in a recess in the middle, I had to make a temp mount for the GPS to pass the approvals
Re: Project Update
Not a complaint, but just something that I notice.
The natural finish on the carb rack creates an unfinished look. Like they were thrown on as an after thought.
It clashes with the overall feel of the bike.

Re: Project Update
good eye
I have 3 sets of carbs, I'm copper plating one set but it is taking a long time as the aluminium casting is crap and the prep to be able to plate correctly is 5 stages and I have to be careful where I plate.
The Pods I have found are easier, first you strip the chrome off which exposes a thin copper plate, which you can then re-plate with more copper. I found that the mesh in the Pods does not plate well so I've only done both end plates.
I put these on so I can to some shake down miles before the tank is finished,
I've also found that I need a slightly bigger lithium battery so I'm fabricating a new battery box and fake oil tank/electrical box, so this is this weekends job. The new lithium battery is smaller than the standard lead acid battery but with 280 CCA
