i had one of these before that was fun to run around on so I picked up this 1980 for $500 running great, receipts for carb cleaning, new tires, new chain and sprockets, and most general maintenance.. Gonna keep this one fairly stock looking, paint change, polish up the aluminum, different seat, straight bars, swap some gaskets and get rid of the oil leaks .. just keep it simple!!

So far ive stripped the vetter fairing off it, sissy bar, pulled the valve covers and rocket cover off to replace the leaky coin gaskets..

going to kind of replicate the old one I had... instead of the light blue like in this picture.. im going to spray it a very deep vibrant blue., possibly a flat black cherry bomb on each side, with gray/black header wrap... Dont really wanna spend a ton of dime, just wanna teach my sister on this and use it to get around town!

thanks ive actually got 3 ongoing projects right now...
Last august i was rear ended by a pickup truck while driving down the hwy, dragged for 300 yards under his truck with my cycle, he was trying to hit and run after he realized what he did obviously.. both legs broken, hip broken, pelvis broken, and some pretty bad wounds.. I havent worked since august and itll probably be a while until I am.. while in the midst of boredom and needing to be able to do things at my own pace due to getting sore i traded off a set of impact sockets for a 79 yamaha xs750, i also sold off some other automotive related tools that were extra's for me... and bought an 84 kawasaki 550ltd, which i did a cheap bobber style build on and sold to a buddy, which netted me more than enough to almost complete the xs750 and get this cb650...
gotta keep busy doing something! I am an auto technician and car builder by trade, so this accident took that away from me for now, and my first love eventually got me to be a top powerlifter in the nation and that will probably never happen again since the accident.. so Ill be spending my time building bikes until I am back in the auto dealership wrenching on cars!!

I might save the sissy bar for a bobber project in the future just so I dont have to fabricate one... but who knows.. right now anythings for sale with my current work situation

Took me far longer to finish this bike than I wanted but it's about done minus some minor things... Need bar end mirrors, braided brake lines, some decent rear shocks etc.. Little tiny cosmetic stuff.... Ended up pulling the motor to regasket and get rid of some oil leaks... That turned into paint and I've got extra parts ive been polishing to add... Cut the rear frame off for the seat at the gas tank built a new one, built the seat, built battery box and hid wiring, dirt bike throttle tube, tank got sprayed, handlebars, gauges, built the licence bracket, xs750 headlight, lowered front, lowered the rear, wheels came apart and spokes and hub ended up painted black with polished rim, fabricated two cherry bombs to be slip fit for the exhaust for easy removal, header wrap , .. Im sure I'm missing things!!
