Crazy Bagger-ish Idea.....maybe?

Postby FordMan » Sat Aug 16, 2014 1:20 am

I LOVE the look of most baggers, if i had the cash i would have either a HD Street Glide or a New Style GoldWing (F6?? i think idk).

Let me start by saying I will be hardtailing my 650 this winter, and i was debating if it would be kind of neat to pick up a cheap set of used HD hard saddles, and do some tweaking on a windjammer to make it look a bit less of an after thought.

I would make everything quickly removable so if I wanted to ride w/o them on and get the less busy simple hardtail look i could do that

Has anyone Attempted a Bagger build with one of these bikes? The Thread Grey Ghost:'80 CB650C Bagger project is a dead thread, and has a pieced together look, and not on the lines i was thinking.
I think it could be done on the cheap.

Not so much dead as I have been getting deeper into researching, and gathering pieces.

The last post was 2012? Thats alot of research LOL.

The sad part is i wouldnt even mind just getting a goldwing and removing the backrest and trunk, they just seem to get alot of cash for those goldwings. lol

When you drive a truck for a living, and only get 2-3 days a month to do anything. It takes a while!

GL1200 brackets will bolt up.

Yeah, I have put my share of miles on in a bobtail.

I have found my beaten path to the bike i want, I am gonna hardtail My 650 this winter, get that ready for 2015 spring season, all in the meantime paying off My car, then selling it, and buying a used HD Street Glide.
I just love the look of the fairing, and the hard bags, and that twin cylinder thump gets my heart racing like no 4 cylinder can.

I love what people are doing with these older hondas, but i always go back to a HD bagger being what i really want. (or maybe the new Indian scout :D )

I've only ridden a couple Harleys, I think the Honda 4 has spoiled me. I don't like the vibes of the v-twins.

That Harley Couldnt have been cheap in the UK lol.

I am also picking up a Suzuki GS850GL in a few weeks, with a set of hard bags i might try to rig up on the 650 after i hard tail it this winter.
