DIY knee pads
DIY knee pads
I made some old school knee pads for my 81 CB650. Not sure what I'm gonna use to adhear them to the tank yet. What do guys think I should use? Silicone maybe?
The curves with match the curves of the tank nicely.

Re: DIY knee pads
If there is no concern for the paint then a "heavy duty glue" like Gorilla glue could be used. I am doubtful silicone would work.
Myself, I think I would use 2 sided tape and I do believe there is another Gorilla product of that type. Perhaps in the carpet and flooring area of the hardware stores.
You might also find something in an automotive store as there is 2 sided tape used for attaching trim pieces on vehicles. Some pretty grippy stuff too, as I recall.
Interesting project. Good luck with it and please show us when you get it sorted.
Cheers.

I used double sided flooring tape.

Looks very good but you know I think they are a tad small. I think if you added about 3 inches to the front of them they would look a bit better. Not at all bad as is, mind you, just my sense of proportion.
I might try that myself.
Cheers.

Re: DIY knee pads
They turned out good. When I first seen you made them I figured you was going to bash the sides of the tank for them.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!
Re: DIY knee pads
They look good! What did you make them out of, and what did you use for a pattern?

Re: DIY knee pads
I don't know what the OP made the pads out of, but I would bet that is rubber floor runner that they sell by the foot at Home Depot.
