New to the forum with some seat questions.

Postby I B » Tue Apr 21, 2015 1:35 pm

Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Tyler and I just picked up a1980 cb650c.
So far loving the bike however not digging the seat. I really want the seat on the cb550. Love the belt and the fact that it's flat! I don't like the passenger sitting up higher and neither does my passenger.
Anyone know if I can put this seat on mine or if there is a way to modify to get one like this?

Welcome here! The seats are not going to instantly interchange, but you can make anything go on nearly anything--it just depends on how much modification you want to do.

I'm all about modifying! :) I'm just not really sure where to start on this one. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
Also if anyone has some suggestions on cheap clubman's.

Welcome here, Tyler! :D

Things would have been a bit easier for a 79 as the 79 (RC03) frame is more or less flat there.
Some here modified the RC05 frame for a cafe build but I doubt that this is really necessary if you only want to go for a straight seat.
Due to the kink in the frame, I would not expect that there exists a straight seat that easily fits.

So one may check out to get an original seat backbone reupholstered or go for a solution similar to this one.

Hey another question. My dad is getting ready to sell a brand new chain but said he would give it to me. Any idea if this will work 530xs0z1. I don't know anything about chains so any advice would be great.

I'm looking at motorcycleseatsdirect.com for my current modification. Not decided on it yet though.

A 530 X-ring chain should be fine for a CB650.
Now count the number of links you need at you old chain.
