Probably a no brainer.......

Postby nickjtc » Sat Jul 29, 2006 12:07 am

I decided to get a new front brake fluid reservoir to replace the existing one which looks like hell (all crazed and dried-out looking). Felt pretty pleased that Honda actually still stocks said piece of plastic, and the local dealer got it inside two days ($31cdn).

However when I took it out to the bike the new one didn't look anything like the one on the bike.

Bottom line: at some point a PO has replaced the entire front brake unit with one from another (unknown) bike and muggins here did not think to check that all of the bits and pieces on the bike are original. One of the joys of being the latest owner of a 27 year old bike, I guess.

So its off to eBay I go to try and find an original unit.

There are some aftermarket master cylindres that should work. Do you have a single or double disk btw?

Here is one:

And there are several used ones up for sale:

PS. Went on to eBay over the weekend and found several 650 brake calipers and master cylinders up for auction. Snagged one for around $50us, including postage, so now I can restore the system to originality.
