Seat on seatpan???

Postby MEHall » Tue Dec 15, 2015 9:27 am

Have anyone tried to put a single seat directly on the original seatpan? This question is for the cb650z mainly, but if you have the seatpan you can open it goes for any cb650 model.

Only the Z 650's had opening seats. All others bolted on. You might look at a couple of the builds on sohc4. One was in a 550 frame but same basic design.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

I'll explain my idea here: As the edge of the edge of the seatpan tend to rust i have the idea to put a single seat in the front of the seatpan. And at the rear a smaller seat, that is because the laws here, in Sweden, demands a registration inspection if you change from a two seater to a one seater. Therefore, I want to get hold of a seat that fits to put directly on the seatpan.

:D Well i have realized that you may not really undetstood my plan but in time i hope i can show you what i originally meant. The original seat cover on my bike dont sit well as the edges have rustedon the seatpan. So my plan is to bolt a solo seat directly on the original seatpan. The solo seat i'm thinking of is the type you see on a customized Harley Davidson, the wider types. Wide as i'm a heavy guy.
