HondaCB650

Hi. I've searched for an answer for this and have had no luck. Simple question. This is my first oil filter change on my 1980 CB650. I've reinstalled the spring-washer-filter. It looks to me like the collar should go right inside the filter where the filter has a built in rubber bushing. I'm thinking I don't need the aluminum collar anymore with the new filter or do I still use it after the filter? Thanks-Mike
