Thanks for the ideas. George, I'll try that this afternoon/evening when I get home. If I can't get anything accomplished, I'll just order a new case off eBay. Shouldn't be too much longer before it's on the road.

I've never had a buggered up screw stay stuck with this method, it is a last resort that will destroy the screw head. Put your screwdriver blade in one of the flats of the crosshead +- so that you only have the smallest section of metal to notch, the remains of the crosshead is already notched, so to speak. Good Luck :D

Thanks man. I don't mind damaging it anymore at this point. I'll just replace it with a torx head or something a little more sturdy. I'll update when I get back to work on it this afternoon (bedtime for you  )

Ordered a new stator cover. Comes with screws and all.

Ended up actually cutting and drilling the screws out, but got the old stator out so that I could get to my brushes. New stator in the new cover ready to go as soon as I can get this old rotor wrestled off.

Use an air impact wrench. If you do not have access to one of those, get a long piece of pipe to slide over the handle of a heavy duty ratchet.

If you have trouble keeping it from turning the engine over instead of loosening the bolt, put the bike in 5th gear and slide something like another long piece of pipe into the spokes of the rear wheel. Carefully turn it until the pipe braces up against the swing arm.

I should have clarified; I was able to get the bolt out with a breaker bar, but I can't get the rotor pulled. I've been trying a cheap gear puller, but it just gets so tight that it bows the arms and eventually pops off.

Thanks George. I watched and read elsewhere about using the rear axle, but didn't really want to remove and replace all that. I'm going to try to borrow a better puller from my dad (owns a shop) today. If that doesn't work out, I may have to breakdown and pull the rear axle. Wish I could figure out what the threading is on that axle so I could just buy a bolt to match.

The rear axle is really the best way to go. It does not take that much to get it off.

I've got a spare one, just drop by my house and I'll lend it to you  If your exhaust isn't in the way, you could just prop up your rear wheel and slide the axle out, do the job and slide it back in.

And if the exhaust is in the way, take off the top bolts for the shocks and lower the swingarm just enough to get that axle out.
