Hey guys, I'm looking for some lower handlebars for my 1982 Nighthawk and can't quite seem to figure out what I need. The current bars are the adjustable two-piece ones that go in the vertical slot on either side, but I'm seeing all these builds with horizontal bars and was interested in doing something like that to lower my riding position a little bit. I've already got the current bars lowered to the bottom and they're not quite enough for me. What are my options?
Recently got an '82 nighthawk and was facing the same dilemma. One option is clip-ons, but I didn't want to have to put dents in the tank for clearance. Took a look at my pile of bars taken from parts bikes and found a pair of aftermarket bars with an almost 90 degree bend between the vertical part and the handgrips. So I cut them off at the bottom of the rise portion and stuck them on the bike. Seems to be a solution. Pics upon request.
