Was the shifter for the 79 CB650 designed for someone with size 5 shoes?
With the thing tucked in behind the alternator cover, it is virtually impossible to get a clean with my size 11 boots.
Anyone have a great alternative.

Except some dirtbikes, all stuff of this time seems to be designed for tiny japanese guys.glaswerks wrote:Was the shifter for the 79 CB650 designed for someone with size 5 shoes?
I have size 11 boots, too, amd I had to bend my shifter lever to make it fit somehow between alternator cover and exhaust cover bolt, too. In fact with these particular boots I am only shifting with the steel tip of the shoe sole.
In fact the Z-Model (also RC03 frame) has a different shifter level than the 1979. You may have a look in the show it off section, see e.g. Jörg Hoffmanns bike. No idea, if it may just be transplanted or if the Z-model frame is different behind those alumina plates.

A big footed friend of mine built a fairly simple looking heel-toe shifter for his.

I had the same problem... I just lowered the gear shift enough so my size 11 can rest comfortably under the rotor cover. Hasn't bothered me since.
