Rebuilt carbs source

Postby hondaford » Tue Sep 11, 2012 8:09 pm

Anyone got a good source for a set of rebuilt 1979 carbs? I'd buy a rebuilt per-1976 CB750 set.

Got a nice, rebuilt cb750 carb from a guy in the US, for a good price. PM if you want the info. Now I'm trying to figure out how to clamp the intake boots tight enough. The PD of the 1976 cb750 carbs are smaller so my brand new boots are too big. Argh! I don't want to get into the whole pod filter bit, so I'm trying to figure a way to make my air box fit. I'm considering wrapping the carb throats with something to shim them into the existing boots. Anybody tried that, or does anybody have a better idea?

M machine had the early cb750 carbs on it when i bought it. I just used hose clamps that was slotted all the way around so i could tighten them. Maybe you can try another set of airbox rubbers. My stock cb650 airbox side slid right over and tightened up real good. Check the hardware store for hose clamps. Also my 750 carbs was running off 1 cable, PO hacked off the "pull cable holder" and just run it with a short "push cable". Too bad i cannot find a new cable of i would be using these carbs instead of my stock pd50s on my 79 cb650. Check the posts as Soos experimented with different sets of honda and kawasaki carbs. I'd add the link but i never figured out cut n paste lol
