Stumbles above 70 mph

Postby dave9543 » Sun Sep 30, 2012 2:31 pm

Purchased cb650cs 2 weeks ago. Runs, idles, rides great except above 70 mph. Bike is completely stock. Above 70 mph bike starts to lose power until switched to reserve then runs great. This my first 650 . Any ideas why this is gas starved?

Sounds like the petcock is plugged. Be a good time to clean the tank too.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

Tank is as clean as new. Would I be better rebuilding the petcock?

If they where rebuild-able yes. None of the internals are offered if you need them. See what flow you get out of it.

Welcome here! :D

Try without the tank cap. Possibly the vent is plugged.
Petcock filter screen (inside the tank) is clean, too?
Kinked fuel line?
