The 100 link 530 non O-ring chain that was on my CB550 is too short for the CB650 engine swap.
I'm going from a 17T/37T combo to a 17T/40T combo. I'm thinking that about 104 links should do it.
The CB500/550 MUST use non O-ring chains. I'm told that I can use an O-ring chain with the CB650....true? Or will it interfere with the case at the front sprocket?
Chain for CB650 in a CB500?
Re: Chain for CB650 in a CB500?
Yes you can use an o ring chain on the 650; it is a little wider but there's room under the sprocket cover for it.
Re: Chain for CB650 in a CB500?
Anyone have a preferred brand?
I can choose from several in the same price range:
-D.I.D.
-EK
-Bikemaster
-Volar
-Ultima
I'm kind of leaning towards the D.I.D. or EK. I don't know much about the other brands.

Re: Chain for CB650 in a CB500?
I run D.i.D; used an o ring first for 4 years; went back to a regular 530 chain as my local shop was having trouble with shipping; 2nd year for the normal d.i.d. chain and no problems as long as you keep it oiled and clean. Depends on what your supplier can get for you; unless you order one from an online source.

In Germany there is a rule of thumb: No chains with womans names! (like "Regina" or "Iris")
