Help needed with part identification and where to get it

Postby mojoblues » Thu Jul 18, 2013 5:11 am

Hi, my 650z is at the mechanic for more than a month :( . There is a lot to do on this bike, but he can't find one part that he calls slider at the distribution chain(!!). I was trying to figure out what is it called in english so I could find it on the net. I can't go to his place and show him the part list 'cause I have no days off unfortunately. I know it's not too much to go on with, but can this be cam shaft tensioner?? And if it is, where can I find it? All the web dealers and shops list it as unavailable! He said it works as a tensioner as well, but insist that it is a slider..

Hello! Bob here in NW US

Bikebandit.com is a site that has schematics and parts id for you.

They have listed on backorder the:
Cam Chain Tensioner assembly -list 147, sell price of $107.00

The sliper, Tensioner is one piece of that assembly and is 48.00 us but is NA.

14500-426-010 honda part num for assembly
14520-426-010 is for the slipper,tensioner

So I checked my local Honda shop to be sure but not available from Honda.

However we have friends at Honda and have been informed that when a ceratain number of requests go in for a part then Honda makes a run on them. The Local shops keep track of the requests in thier computer and it is sent to the Corp office. So we were told to call in to the local Honda shop and request parts.

Parts are avaialble from sellers who have bought out dealer inventory. Sorry I cant tell you where to get one other than look online.

"Chaîne de distri(bution)" is the French term for cam chain.
So I guess you either need the cam chain slider (front of engine, plastic only) or the cam chain tensioner (rear of engine, plastic, steel, spring and two bolts at the rear).
As already written, both are presently not available at Honda.

Thank you both for your answers. This is what I was afraid of, no parts to find.. :(
In my country these bikes are quite rare, so no used parts around.

there is of course ebay where I get my parts from halfway across the globe.

got sick of paying double the price locally where I could get it cheap overseas.
