Alright so I got a CB650 off of Craigslist. long story short one of the carbs(that are in otherwise perfect condition) was irreparably damaged. I've already bought a bay of carbs out of a junkyard with hopes but they're junk too.
I want original honda carbs. BUT they might as well be made of unobtanium for what i can tell.
If i can't keep 4 carbs I'd prefer a dual-carb setup to a single carb 'cause shite that's a lot of power loss.
I'm kind of at a loss for what to do right now. Any advice i can get from older wiser more experienced people is greatly appreciated.

What is wrong with the single carb on your original bank? I have a bank that I broke down into parts. I'll send you the carb you need if you just pay for shipping.
While we are at it, what's wrong with the bank you bought?

It was dropped during a cleaning(it had been left sitting in a garage for 5-10 years) and the housing around the pilot jet on the #2 carb broke off.
Whereabouts are you? Would you like to PM me about sending me that carb? I may want more than one. As much trouble as i'm having i've been thinking about grabbing them up whenever i can and getting at least one spare, timed set just in case.

Got some pictures of the carbs but they're all 1.3mb and the cap for this site is 1mb

Put them on Photobucket and link them here.

The carb I have will not work on that bank. Those carbs are from a 79 or 80, not an 81.

As was mentioned. Those carbs are the PD series mechanical slide carbs for the 79-80 models. The 81 model changed to the VB vacuum slide carbs. The 81 model changed the spacing between the carbs.
While it is possible that the head or complete engine may have been replaced. Make sure the carbs line up correctly with the intake ports before going further. There will be approx 10mm difference in spacing on the outer carbs.
If you find that the carbs that you have do not line up correctly. You will need to locate a set of VB44C carbs. These are for the 82 CB650SC and have the screw in slow jet. This will allow you to avoid the pressed in slow jet hassle of the VB44A carbs.

And, that pressed-in slow jet carb can often be recovered, with a good ultrasonic cleaning.
I never pull those things anymore, I just use the ultrasonic until the solvent stays clean.
The Harbor Freight ultrasonic may cost a bit, but it's an investment. And still lots cheaper than buying rack after rack of rotten carbs.

I'm deep enough into the garage mechanicing that I need to get one of these now.

I certainly haven't regretted spending the cash on mine.
You think you got the carbs all nice and clean, they're shiny and spotless, you've put three cans of carb cleaner through them...then you dip 'em in that ulstrasonic and MUD starts pouring out of all those tiny passageways you thought were perfectly clean.
Buddy this past winter bought a basket-case bike with perfectly clean carbs that wouldn't idle. I broke those things off the rack and took photos of the snot coming out of them in the ultrasonic. Buddy could not BELIEVE how much dirt was clogging up the fuel and air passageways on those shiny carbs. And the bike ran great as soon as we put the carbs back on.
I use a mixture of Pine-sol and distilled water, and run each carb through it till the solvent stays pretty clean. Then I use Calcium/Lime/Rust remover after that till it stays clean. Then I immediately go back through with regular aerosol carb cleaner (because the CLR shouldn't stay in the passageways, they will re-clog with it in there), and dry it out with compressed air.
The HF ulstrasonic has done well for about three years now. I let it cool down every few cycles, and I only run 3-minute cycles. I never have bothered to use the heat cycle on it. If it dies tomorrow, I'll go right out and buy a second one. Worth the $$$.

just letting you guys know that I and this thread and this bike isn't dead. Just caught a bad case of the "college poorness" and just now started recovering. Thanks for all the help up till this point and beyond, all!
