New to the forum based on my recent purchase. Picked up an 81 CB650C from craigslist for $400. New battery, carbs recently cleaned, newer tires, 13k, 2 owner. Thought I would be stupid not to get this for the $400. Was able to get it home riding with the choke on. Wants to die when choke is off. From what I read, must be vacuum leak. Will prob do some minor mods, but really love the classic look. I will be looking around on the posts and asking questions. Excited to get her on the road

Any tips on vacuum leaks would be greatly appreciated. I saw some videos on using carb cleaner around the boots and watching the rpms. I will keep posted on progress and get some more pics and videos up. It will be a work in progress.

Welcome to the forum! Nice looking bike! For $400, it looks like you scored!

Don't use carb cleaner on the carb insulators. It will eat away rubber parts. Use WD40 to test for leaks. Just like you said, get the bike running and spray WD40 on each insulator (boot) one at a time and listen for idle changes. Any change indicates a leak.
