Pod Filter Alternative?
Re: Pod Filter Alternative?
long ago on the sohc4 site someone used the plenum and a large single filter to replace the filterbox. it was on a 550 and looked like a good setup.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

I finally found the post it was the Olivia build. I reads the owners ride reports after installing the mod, all positive. He went from a small round opening to a round filter flange. the 650 will be a challenge with the large oval opening that will be adapted to a round opening.

Re: Pod Filter Alternative?
I finally was able to get an adapter made for the airbox to accept a large pod filter. The filter is a bit smaller than stock, K&N RC-8100 Universal Clamp-On Air Filter (https://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=rc-8100). Since I don't have a TIG for welding stainless, a friend of a friend made it for me. It's not the neatest work, but it will do. I filed down the welds a bit for now, there is still more work to do.

If it turns out I need more air I'll add these -> UNI Filter Filtered Air Vents http://shop.unifilter.com/p/air-box-filtered-air-vents-6-pack

Getting closer to first start, but my time to focus on the task at hand has been sporadic. Next order of business is to join the 2 halves of the carbs, mount, and run the necessary cables and houses.Folsoml wrote:I can't wait to hear the results!
