long ago on the sohc4 site someone used the plenum and a large single filter to replace the filterbox. it was on a 550 and looked like a good setup.

I finally found the post it was the Olivia build. I reads the owners ride reports after installing the mod, all positive. He went from a small round opening to a round filter flange. the 650 will be a challenge with the large oval opening that will be adapted to a round opening.

I finally was able to get an adapter made for the airbox to accept a large pod filter. The filter is a bit smaller than stock, K&N RC-8100 Universal Clamp-On Air Filter (https://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=rc-8100). Since I don't have a TIG for welding stainless, a friend of a friend made it for me. It's not the neatest work, but it will do. I filed down the welds a bit for now, there is still more work to do.

Getting closer to first start, but my time to focus on the task at hand has been sporadic. Next order of business is to join the 2 halves of the carbs, mount, and run the necessary cables and houses.
