Use a beer can

Postby chuter » Mon Jun 09, 2014 3:45 pm

Last fall a buddy said he might have a right side 2 in to 1 replacement exhaust for me. Well, winter turned to spring (kind of) and he was wrong. So another local friend said he has a 2 into 2 and a 2 into 1 for me to look at. I'll know later this week.
In the mean time I asked an auto repair buddy what I could do to ride but not have my rusted and now separated outer sleeve, muffler fall off. I laughed when he said, "Use a beer can". He then described how to sleeve the muffler with an aluminum beer can, some muffler tape and a couple hose clamps. Then he reached over to his work bench and handed me a piece of aluminum sheet. I picked up the tape and had the hose clamps.
For a temporary fix, it works well. Hopefully later this week I'll have access to the replacement exhaust or I'll come back to the Forums and see who still has one.
Here's how it looks for now. Oh, and I did safety wire the clamps on too.
