low speed wreck bent shifter

Postby 626 » Sun Sep 07, 2014 2:46 pm

Was turning into my alley Friday afternoon. Its kind of a blind corner, 20ft of shrub rows on both side and a big garage right after. Brick road too, I hate that. I'll be entering from the other end of the alley from now on, much better view.

I was in the middle of turning when a car came out from behind the garage. Too much front brake I guess, slide on some leaves/dirt down it went. Scratched up the lower left engine cover and bent the shifter pretty good. I landed about 10ft from the bike on my feet.

I saw gas coming from the bike And I thought NO MY TANK, but it was fine.

I'm having trouble fixing the shifter though. So far I can get it to where I can down shift or up shift but not both. It will shift down once or up once, then hits the exhaust or engine. I'll just have to keep heating and bending till its right I guess.

Glad you were not hurt. Also good that the bike did not sustain more damage.

Me too. I got it working again but that shifter looks bad now.

Maybe its time to pull the trigger on some rear sets.
