Wiring and connectors behind headlight
I am reassembling a 1982 Honda CB 650 (that was taken apart by somebody else) and discovered that many of the connectors are located behind the headlight. Is there a specific location for the connectors or are they just stuffed in there anywhere? If someone could send me a photo with the headlight removed it would really help me. Thanks
Re: Wiring and connectors behind headlight
Hi Richard,
I have a 1981 CB650C and when I took the headlight off, a lot of electrical wiring was just "stuffed" in it.
I dont know if it should be like this but it was with mine.

There is a order. There is clips on the bucket to hold the connectors.
Might be pics in the manual. with a little patients its makes a little sence.
It is hard to get like the factory but you can make room.

Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!
Re: Wiring and connectors behind headlight
Yes, these clips should be on a black plastic part boltet with 3 screws to the rear of the headlight bucket. Maybe the PO removed it.

Thanks guys; I'll give it another try. I had a feeling that the plastic thing at the back was designed to hold the connectors.

Re: Wiring and connectors behind headlight
I am still struggling with this. The best I could do was stuff the white connector in to the extreme left, the black connector into the centre left, and the red connector into the centre right. One connector (wired to the right handle bar controls) didn't seem to fit and had a boot on it so I took it outside of the headlight bucket. Did I get it right?
Re: Wiring and connectors behind headlight
That looks pretty good. Did the headlite fit? If so this thread should be tagged to the FAQ section.

Re: Wiring and connectors behind headlight
If the headlight fits, it's definitely good enough.

Looks quite all right except the black plastic mask around the rear openings that usually also carries the clamps (part 20 in http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/H ... parts.html) seems to be something else here, right? The decisive part is that you can put it together without squeezing a cable or getting a short but possibly this explains this additional connector with regard to the clamps:
I do not remember having any connector outside. Picture?
I think I remember that I had two connectors of identical width placed in the longest clamp.
But this was a German 1980 CB650C still with the headlight on/off switch so I guess it could have had some more cables than the US models.
