The switches and knobs, as well as the switch gear housings, on the bike ('79 650) have suffered the ravages of 27 years of UV/heat/cold/rain etc. Is there any way to refurbish them to get rid of the faded look of the switches/knobs (especially the engine cut-off knob), and the crystallised look of the housings?
If painting is the only answer, what kind of paint should I use?
Any ideas out there?
Thanks.

Nickjtc, nice stable you have there.
Painting is an option. I am not aware of any way to refurbish the faded plastic. Painting can be done. I had read a post once about using first a primer meant for plastic and then the top coat. One light coat of each or you make mask any grooves in the plastic. The metal parts can be sanded, primed, and sprayed with flat black. Of course you would probably want to remove them. If there is impressed wording multiple coats would fill these in. A tooth pick and some paint can be used to fill in the impressed words on the parts. Then you can shoot a coat of flat clear coat over them.
